“In the hall, luthiers Gerrit van Bergeijk and Menno Bos exhibited their guitars and people were allowed to try them out. Greek guitarist Giorgos Tabakis also has a unique guitar, who played his compositions on the eight-string guitar specially made for him in the last afternoon concert. He says that when the electric amplified guitar with an extra B-bass string and high A string was finally ready, he didn’t know how to play it at first. He had to completely rethink musically and it was only when he let go of his ideas of the classical guitar and saw the instrument as an orchestra in itself, that his creativity was released. Although he has already produced a waterfall of sounds with many newly devised techniques, he is convinced that there is much more to be discovered in terms of sound possibilities”
